Timothy James, a 26-year-old fresh graduate, walked into the Career & Employability Job Fair last month with curiosity and an open mind. Graduating from Republic Polytechnic with a Diploma in Restaurant and Culinary Operations, he has always wanted to be a Chef since young. He would pretend to be a hotel chef, while preparing sumptuous meals for his family. After chatting with different employers, he secured an interview with Pan Pacific Hotel.
Applying for jobs in the digital world is easy and fuss-free. You could fill up an application form, submit and wait for a call in the comfort of your home. But many employers still choose to participate in job fairs. We met Woodlands Health’s Human Resources (HR) manager, Elaine Lee to learn more from the employer’s point of view.
