Green Bootcamp @ North West
16 September 2026
Besides going green, the Green Bootcamp gave youths a chance to gain new perspectives, make new friends, and discover what they could do when they stepped out of their comfort zones.

The Green Bootcamp started with a design thinking workshop and ended with a final presentation on 25 July 2026. In between? Less than three months to make things happen.
Participants had to tackle a real sustainability challenge. There were proposals to rethink, ideas to kill, prototypes to fix, feedback to absorb, and tough calls to make.
So was it all worth it? Three participants share what surprised them, challenged them, and changed the way they thought.

Here are 10 lessons that stayed
1. Try something completely new
The Green Bootcamp gave participants the chance to stretch themselves and discover what they could do.

2. Meet people who get you thinking differently
From fellow students to mentors and industry pros, there were plenty of new perspectives to plug into.

3. Make room for “what if?”
The freedom to experiment gave teams the chance to pick up skills they wouldn’t normally use.

4. Innovate by asking better questions
The best ideas don’t always start with “what can be created?” but with “what are people actually looking for?”

5. Learn to make less work
With prototype running, teams had to make real decisions about budgets, procurement and what was actually doable.

6. See the bigger picture
Mentors challenged teams to think beyond their own solution and consider how it could create a wider impact.

7. Find out what you’re capable of
Sometimes, the right challenge reveals skills and strengths that weren’t obvious before.

8. Have fun while making something happen
Figuring things out together, backing each other up and seeing the ideas come to life made it all the more fun.

9. View sustainability differently
Sustainability isn’t just about saving the planet. It’s also about creating solutions people actually want to use.

10. See where it could lead
Sometimes, a competition can spark a project, passion or even a career.
